The local church needs you to be a recognizable church member

A. The church needs you in order for the church body to function
correctly. (1 Corinthians 12)
B. The church needs you to help choose church leaders and to hold
them accountable. (Acts 6, Titus 1, Galatians 1, 2 Timothy 4)
C. The church needs you to fight false doctrine (Titus 1, 1 Timothy
1, Acts 20, Galatians 1, 2 Timothy 4).
D. The church needs you to exercise church discipline (Titus,
1 Timothy, 2 Timothy 4, Acts 20, Matthew 18, 1 Corinthians 6,
2 Corinthians 5, 2 Corinthians 2:6-8).
E. The church needs you to support the church financially.

2) The local church needs you to be a recognizable member.
A. The early church knew who her members were (Acts 2:47,
Acts 4:4, 2 Corinthians 2:6-7)
B. The early church excluded people who they believed were not
Christians and/or were under church discipline (Acts 9:26-28,
C. The early church recommended people for membership to
other churches (Acts 18:27, Romans 16:1-2)
D. Church history explains why membership is not as
straightforward as it was in the early church.
